8. Current state of the experimental work
We think, this molecule will be a special case in this competition.
We have got X-ray data up to 2.7 A( 98.6% completenes, Rmerge=7%), but only
from 1 crystal, and whithout
any heavy atom derivatives or MAD or any other information about phases.
So, only molecular replacement is possible to solve the structure.
There is some sequence similarity to the annexin family, and we have some
models for the structure but
up to now rotation and translation search failed and no model is
found. That means, either, may be we find any model up to the deadline
in october and solve the structure, or we find no one. In the first case we will
provide the coordinates, in the second we could use all of the predicted
models for a molecular replacement study and possibly solve our structure by the
use of a predicted model. Are you interested in? If so, let us know.
