- 7. Homologous Sequence of known structure
- yes
- 8. Current state of the experimental work
- Refinement and manuscript preparation to 1.9A (strain 4M-147), and 2.4A
resolution (N-400).
The two structures are sufficiently similar for inter-crystal averaging to have
been useful despite the sequence differences.
- 9. Interpretable map?
- yes

- done

- Note that the signal peptide, 1-20 above, is removed and thus not part of the
structure determined
The sequence from strain 4M-147 (Danisco Ingrediants) is slightly different

The N-terminus of the mature enzyme is the same as for strain N-400. Thus
again residues 1-20 have been removed.
The structures are distantly related to that of the extracellular family of
pectate lyases, PelC and PelE from Erwinia chrysanthemi and BsPel from Bacillus
subtilis. Thus the overall fold is obvious and there already exists an alignment
from Henrissat et al. Plant Physiol. 107, 963-976 (1995) which shows most of the
members of this family.
