METHOD The structure of VANX was predicted to be similar with   
METHOD ZN DD-peptidase(PDB code 1lbu) or N-terminal domain of sonic hedgehog   
METHOD protein(PDB code 1vhh) fold by McCafferty et al. (Biochemistry 1997)   
METHOD according to the mutagenesis to identify the Zn binding sites and motif   
METHOD search. Their result appears promising, because  
METHOD these structure coincide with the literature of structure   
METHOD submitters: they have anti-parallel beta-sheets and Zn binding   
METHOD site. So we asked whether our methods support the results or not.   
METHOD Among several trials, only the inverse folding search including   
METHOD sequence information of the C-terminal domain of 1lbu structure   
METHOD detects the C-terminal half sequence of VANX with mid 25   
METHOD amino acids deleted (speculated as gaps). Therefore, we very   
METHOD weakly suggest the last half sequence including the Zn-binding   
METHOD motif has possible compatibility with the last half of 1lbu structure,  
METHOD if a large gap region is allowed.
