METHOD PSI-BLAST searches did not yield similarities to other protein families.
METHOD The secondary structure prediction from the JPRED server indicates
METHOD an alpha/beta type fold. Currently there are two DNA glycosylase
METHOD proteins in the PDB database: E. coli 3-methyladenine DNA glycosylase II
METHOD and human uracil DNA glycosylase. The E. coli gylcosylase is 282 residues
METHOD in length and consists of a N-terminal mostly beta domain and a C-terminal
METHOD mostly alpha domain, which is inconsistent the predicted secondary
METHOD structure. The human uracil DNA glycosylase is equal in length to our
METHOD target with 229 residues and is a alpha/beta type fold. However, the
METHOD secondary structure and hydrophobicity patterns were not compatable.
METHOD Searches with MAP were also inconclusive, therefore we submit our prediction
METHOD as a novel fold.
