METHOD     The algortihm for the prediction is based methods using 
METHOD     simulated annealing in both discrete and continuous 
METHOD     conformational space (W. H. Press et al., 'Numerical 
METHOD     Recipes in C', 2nd ed., Cambridge University Press, 
METHOD     1992, pp. 444-455; J. A. Nelder & R. Mead, Computer J. 7, 
METHOD     308-313 (1965)) in which the dihedrals phi and psi of 
METHOD     individual residues are independent variables. The 
METHOD     potential used for the evaluation of the energy of 
METHOD     conformations is based on a database which was derived 
METHOD     from a subset (U. Hohbohm et. al., Protein Sci. 1, 
METHOD     409-417 (1992)) of 267 polypeptide chains of the PDB 
METHOD     (F. C. Bernstein et al., J. Mol. Biol. 112, 535-542 
METHOD     (1977)). The database, called RELOR, currently contains 
METHOD     1529378 descriptions of interactions of pairs of amino 
METHOD     acid residues (A. Haedener, unpublished). The model was 
METHOD     generated starting from a random-coil conformation.
