METHOD Reading the literature about bacterial adhesins/lectins
METHOD suggested two structures in the PDB that have a similar function:
METHOD the Mannose-specific adhesin FimH from Escherichia coli
METHOD 1qun (chain:B) (D. Choudhury et al., Science 285, 1061-1066) and the
METHOD PapK pilus subunit from Escherichia coli 1pdk (chain:B)
METHOD (F.G. Sauer et al., Science 285, 1058-1061). Based on this information and
METHOD the JPred2 secondary structure prediction for the target sequence,
METHOD 1qun (chain:B) was chosen as a possibly similar fold, as its secondary structure matches
METHOD the predicted secondary structure better than the secondary structure of 1pdk (chain:B).
METHOD The target sequence was aligned to the structure of 1qun (chain:B) with clustalw
