METHOD    The following steps were used  to generate the model.
METHOD    STEP 1. Ab initio prediction of supersecondary 'nucleus'
METHOD (Protein Sci., v. 8, Suppl.1, p.86) of the target protein
METHOD using two methods: (a) calculation of thermodynamic
METHOD stabilities of alpha-helices, alpha-hairpins, and beta-sheets
METHOD in hydrophobically collapsed protein using program Framework
METHOD (currently under development, Biopolymers, v.42, pp. 239-269),
METHOD and (b) qualitative analysis of hydrophobicity and propensity
METHOD patterns in sequence alignments (Proteins, Suppl.3, pp.199-203).
METHOD    STEP 2. Assembly of the 'nucleus' from the predicted alpha-
METHOD helices and alpha-hairpins.  No assumption about the
METHOD alpha-superhelical fold has been made.  The model was not
METHOD verified and refined by constructing multiple homologous structures.
